confidence, consistency, and care

Building Capacity for Stronger Student Support

Paraprofessionals play a critical role in helping students feel supported, included, and ready to learn. LERU’s paraprofessional training equips school-based staff with the skills, confidence, and practical strategies needed to support students more effectively throughout the school day.

Our 10-week training model focuses on role clarity, student support, behavior management, classroom routines, special education support, and strategies for working with students with autism and complex needs.

Areas of student support

What the Training Covers

LERU helps paraprofessionals build the day-to-day skills needed to support students in inclusive and self-contained settings, including students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, multiple disabilities, and complex learning or behavioral needs.

Foundational Student Support

Paraprofessionals learn how to support students in inclusive and self-contained settings through IEP and 504 Plan awareness, classroom routines, behavior support, accommodations, differentiated instruction, SEL strategies, and accurate student documentation.

Autism & Complex Needs

Training also prepares staff to support students with autism, multiple disabilities, sensory needs, communication challenges, and behavioral triggers through visual supports, structured routines, de-escalation strategies, life skills support, and collaboration with teachers, families, and service providers.

Practical Training for Real School Environments

Why It Matters

LERU’s training is built for the realities paraprofessionals face every day. Sessions are practical, clear, and connected to real classroom situations, helping staff feel more prepared to respond to student behavior, communication needs, learning challenges, transitions, and moments of escalation.

When paraprofessionals are prepared, schools benefit from stronger classroom support, fewer preventable incidents, better student independence, clearer staff roles, and more consistent support for students with disabilities and complex needs.

LERU helps paraprofessionals move from simply assisting to becoming confident partners in student success.
